Wanted man found by police after residents report rowdy neighbour

The 21-year-old failed to attend court sittings or sign the bail book

A man who was reported as ‘wanted’ by police earlier this week was found in a Senglea apartment after neighbours called police to report rowdiness.

Magistrate Leonard Caruana heard how 21-year-old Muhammed Milal Ali from Żabbar had a pending court case before another magistrate.

For several weeks – between May 1 and June 10 – he did not attend sittings when required and did not sign the bail book, in breach of his bail conditions.

Police did not find him at the residence he was meant to be at, so they issued a wanted person report.

On June 11, a Senglea resident called the Cospicua police station to report rowdiness, and upon arriving at the scene, police recognised the accused as the wanted person and arrested him.

He was denied bail, but the magistrate recommended that he be kept in a section appropriate for young people.

Police Inspectors Lydon Zammit and Stephen Gulia prosecuted.

Lawyer Nicole Falzon represented the accused.
