After having read what Adrian Buttigieg ("Singled out for a ticket", July 31), I felt it was my duty to try and explain what exactly happened.
The signs along the Villa Rosa wall state that on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, between 9 and 11 p.m. only coaches and mini-buses are allowed to park. On July 13, two wardens were on duty in the St Julian's area and passing along the Villa Rosa wall issued out nine contraventions, four of which were to 'K' plates. The wardens did return to the Villa Rosa area that evening but this was after 11 p.m. when this restriction ended.
What really happened was that out of the nine cars which received a contravention, eight left before 11 p.m. The owner of the ninth car arrived, which must have been the vehicle Mr Buttigieg was driving.
Understandably, Mr Buttigieg deducted that since only his vehicle had a notice of contravention stuck on the windscreen, he was singled out from among the other vehicles which had no notices of contravention stuck on their windscreens.
It is also a known fact that youngsters remove notices of contravention from car windscreens.
Should Mr Buttigieg require further details, he can contact the undersigned through the St Julian's local council.
