The Parliamentary Secretariat for Small Enterprises and the Self-Employed has warned against the sale of stalls in open air markets by market vendors to each other.
The secretariat was reacting to information it received that owners of stalls at the Ta' Qali market were selling stalls to other vendors.
The secretariat extended the warning to other organised markets where the names of those mounting the stalls were listed in the Government Gazette.
It said that local councils who have organised markets in their localities cannot authorise any transfer of stalls.
There was a waiting list for those who wanted to obtain a stall in a market, the secretariat pointed out.
