God said: Do not kill (Exodus 20, v13).
In a robust spontaneous accordance with this humane precept all over the world we are seeing daily hundreds of thousands of good people of every nation, creed and station taking to the streets, waving banners and flags, carrying placards and adding loud vociferous protestations against the current conflict in Iraq.
This is a good thing and it is highly to be recommended; the Pope is greatly dismayed and obviously much disheartened at the inevitable loss of lives and this disobedience of the divine command. Do not kill, says God.
Jesus went much further, saying: "You have heard what was said to the men of old, you shall not kill, and whoever kills shall be liable to judgement. But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be liable to judgement." (Matthew 5, v21).
We have to take notice of the fact that there is another international (covert) war going on around us, to stamp out acts of terrorism especially against civilians and non-combatants. It would prove a boon to our planet if the hundreds of thousands of the street protesters would not forget Jesus' admonition and add this essential and typical Christian concept to their placards and vocal mantras.
So that at last all the nations on this earth will be safe and enjoy that utopian angelic announcement "Peace on earth to all men of goodwill (Luke, 2, v14).
