Way of the Cross installation set up in Għajnsielem square

Lenten installation to feature 14 crosses representing 14 Stations of the Cross

Voluntary organisations in Għajnsielem are currently carrying out work on a major Lenten installation in the church square.

The project, entitled ‘The Cross: Jesus and You’, consists of 14 crosses representing the 14 Stations of the Cross.

The installation includes a 10-metre-high cross being constructed from recycled materials.

The Way of the Cross will be mounted on a central structure, which will serve as a multi-funcational room. It will be used as a prayer room during Lent, while, during Holy Week, it will be transformed into a live cenacle, where actors will perform a representation of the Last Supper, with the meal being cooked on site.

Other activities will be organised for children, such as the Palm Sunday celebration. Children will be encouraged to dress as biblical characters and will then take part in the traditional Palm Sunday procession.

The Way of the Cross installation will be accessible to all throughout Lent.
