• Consumers may claim a free remedy from sellers when goods purchased either turn out to be defective within two years from date of delivery or do not conform to the original sales contract.

• Prior to making a claim, consumers should be well-informed about their rights to ensure that their claim is legally justified and reasonable.

• Traders must be informed by consumers about the lack of conformity within two months from discovering the problem.

• When complaining to trader is not sufficient to resolve the problem, consumers will then need to lodge an official complaint with the Office for Consumer Affairs at the MCCAA.

• A claim may be submitted with the Consumer Claims Tribunal when the conciliation procedure does not end in an amicable settlement.
