A talk on blasphemy is being held in Gozo today by  Oliver Magro.

Magro’s interest in the subject is purely personal and was triggered by the censorship in Malta of the play Stitching in 2009. The play by Scottish playwright Anthony Neilson explores themes of loss, grief and distrust in which a couple loses a child and struggles to cope in the aftermath.

The talk will explore what is to be considered blasphemous and what is not, and the communities’ ‘right’ not to be offended by controversial material.

Magro graduated in law and philosophy but never  practised law. He has a career in university administration and systems and has collaborated with a number of universities worldwide.

The talk is being held today at 7.30 pm at Arthall, Triq G.P.F Agius De Soldanis, Victoria. Entrance is free.
