It's Saturday morning and I am sitting with my two boys, aged 10 and seven, wondering how to spend this rainy weekend. We hoped to have an activity weekend as we do when the summer holidays are nearing their end but the rain has spoilt our plans; not many alternatives spring to mind and only two choices manage to surface - the Mdina Dungeons and the walk-through Great Siege "experience" in Valletta.
I visit the www.visitmalta.com website in the hope of some inspiration; there is plenty of information there presented in an efficient and user friendly website, but nothing with the heading "what to do when it rains". It does rain here doesn't it...? Can we please have a link to a list of places to see and things to do when the weather doesn't live up to our expectations?
I have often heard tourists complain that there is nothing to do in Malta during winter time. I am aware of foreigners who came to Malta with the idea of settling here and spent the most boring three cold months of the year huddled inside and gave up on the idea. Don't we have any indoor attractions? We do. List them please and make them accessible. Let's not pretend that the weather is always great.
On the subject of adding links, another useful one would be for "child friendly" attractions and activities. This would be useful both to locals like my family searching for things to do with the children as well as for potential visitors to our island who are planning to travel with children. This sort of information is standard at overseas tourist offices. It would be a useful source of information which I am sure many would appreciate.
