‘Where Silence Holds’ exhibition to host Inizjamed reading event
Artists and guest readers to continue conversation on gender-based and domestic violence
An exhibition tackling gender-based and domestic violence, currently on at The Mill, Birkirkara, is hosting a public reading event on Thursday, October 23.
Led by the Dar Merħba Bik Foundation and curated by Elyse Tonna, Where Silence Holds brings together the voices of artists, survivors and advocates to spotlight how the silences between the trauma can hold care, reflection and transformation.
The exhibition features multidisciplinary contributions from artists and collectives including Charlene Galea and Sarah Vella, Mark Schembri, Francesco Grech, movingeedit Studio, Sarah-Madeleine Caruana and Claire Farrugia, Martina Darmanin and Sejjaħli b’Ismi.
The public reading event, held in collaboration with Inizjamed, will continue the conversation on this important topic.
As well as readings from exhibition artists alongside guest readers Klara Vassallo and Justine Somerville, the programme will also include a curatorial tour by Elyse Tonna, offering visitors further insight into the exhibition.
Where Silence Holds is open at The Mill, Birkirkara, on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 5 to 7pm, until October 31. This project has been funded by the Commission on Gender-Based Violence and Domestic Violence and the Parliamentary Secretary for Reforms and Equality through the Together We Empower programme.
