A wide area of Malta was briefly without power this morning.

Power was lost at about 7.30am and restored within 15 minutes.

Areas reported to be without power included Sliema, Swieqi, parts of Birkirkara, Attard, Lija and parts of Iklin.

A spokesman for Enemalta said this was following a switching operations as part of a protective load shedding system.
