Wife files judicial protest against care home after husband's alleged assault
Giuseppe Perini was allegedly assaulted by his roommate on October 14
The wife of an 88-year-old man filed a judicial protest after her husband sustained injuries when he was allegedly assaulted by his roommate at a care home.
Antonia Perini, in her name and that of her husband, Giuseppe, filed the judicial protest in the First Hall of the Civil Court, against Care Residence Limited and Care Residence Operation Limited.
The judicial protest said the operators will be held responsible for the damages.
Giuseppe Perini, a resident at Dar San Ġużepp in Fgura, operated by the respondents, was placed in a room with another person who is allegedly known for his aggressiveness and violent behaviour, stemming from psychiatric issues.
Through her lawyers, Perini said on October 14, her husband was assaulted and hit by his roommate, sustaining grievous injuries as a result of the unprovoked attack.
Perini remains at Mater Dei Hospital and is in critical condition.
A police report was also filed.
The woman argued that the companies should take the necessary measures to ensure that the residents’ safety is ensured, and said the injuries that her husband sustained were due to the company’s negligence and non-observance of rules.
She warned that she would hold the two companies responsible as she called them to come forward and settle the damages.
Lawyers José Herrera and Naomi Spiteri signed the protest.
