Two popular household wine brands, which have been produced in Malta for over 40 years, have for the very first time sponsored a competition, The Malta Pool Association.

In the new, appropriately titled Green & Red Label Easter Cup competition, six-a-side teams are competing – on a knockout basis – in games at a number of club venues across Malta until Wednesday.

The Malta Pool Association, which was established in 1989, is recognised by the Malta Olympic Committee, Kunsill Malti Għall-Isport, European Eight-Ball Pool Federation and World Eight-Ball Pool Federation.

Emmanuel Delicata Winemaker is proud to be partnered with the association, which recently represented Malta in the European Eight-Ball Championships and won the European Championships title in Blackpool, England.

The Maltese team won its way to the final after competing successfully against teams from England, France, Belgium, Ireland, Wales, Morocco and Northern Ireland. It beat Scotland in the final with a closely fought battle – eight games to seven.

The Maltese team, led by third-time winner Carmel Cilia, also included Raymond Caruana, Mario Cutajar, Clayton Attard, Philip Coleiro, Johan Attard and Anton Cuschieri, who cleared the table to win the deciding frame.
