Those who ever imagined that the GWU will reach an agreement with the social partners must be naïve.

The only time I remember that the GWU supported a Nationalist government was in the 1960s when Prime Minister George Borg Olivier asked for national support against the discharges from the services by the UK government. And we all know the consequences. The union's general secretary, Joe Attard Kingswell, was removed from his post and remained an outcast for the rest of his life.

We must stop living a wishful world.
