A woman and a man were yesterday charged with their involvement in forging Lm1,000 worth of Lm10 notes.
Grace Cini, 34, of Bugibba and 29-year-old Noel Frendo, a prison inmate, were both charged with conspiring to commit a crime on and before Wednesday.
Ms Cini alone was charged with forging the bills and the illegal possession of the bills when she knew them to be false.
Mr Frendo alone was charged with complicity with Ms Cini in forging the money, relapsing and committing a crime during the operative time of a suspended jail term.
During the arraignment, Magistrate Michael Mallia heard Police Inspector Angelo Gafà, prosecuting, explain that investigations showed that Ms Cini had printed 100 false Lm10 bills over two days.
Following submissions on bail the magistrate granted Ms Cini bail against a Lm500 deposit and a personal guarantee of the same amount.
Lawyers Shazoo Ghaznavi and Roberto Montalto appeared for the defendants.
