Woman damages windscreen of speeding car in unusual incident

The woman had lost a family member to a traffic accident

A 66-year-old woman who stopped a speeding car and damaged its windscreen was handed a conditional discharge on Monday after she paid for the damage and admitted her action in court.

The incident happened in Gżira on Sunday. 

In submissions on punishment, legal procurator Quentin Tanti told the court that this was a “freak accident” and the woman had been through certain trauma in her life and hence her reaction.

It is understood that the woman lost a family member to a traffic accident.

The woman was handed a conditional discharge for six months after the car owner testified that she had paid him for the windscreen.

Magistrate Leonard Caruana presided.

Police inspector Elton Buckingham prosecuted.
