Woman grievously injured in assault by son, court told

The accused has pleaded not guilty

A 28-year-old Tarxien man on Wednesday pleaded not guilty to assaulting and grievously injuring his mother, threatening and insulting her.

It is understood that the woman suffered four fractured ribs after an argument over what day of the week it was.

Bail was not requested at this stage since the accused does not have an alternative residence.

Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo presided.

AG lawyer Julia Micallef Stafrace prosecuted, assisted by police inspector Carlos Cordina.

Legal aid lawyer Silvan Pulis assisted the accused.
