Woman slightly hurt as balcony gives way

A woman was slightly injured yesterday when the balcony of her house gave way and she fell a height of one storey, the police said.

The accident happened in Main Street, Lija at about 5 p.m. The police said the 47-year-old woman, Elizabeth Agius, was in the house with her husband when she went to sweep water off the balcony. Her husband saw the balcony give way and his wife falling to the street below.

She was taken to hospital for treatment.
