A woman was trapped in the wreckage of her car after a collision with a forklift early on Thursday evening.

A police spokesperson told Times of Malta that the accident occurred at around 6pm in Valletta Road, Mqabba, close to St Benedict primary school.

The woman was assisted by rescuers of the Civil Protection Department and an ambulance crew and taken to hospital. Her condition was not immediately known. 

Young girl injured

Earlier on Thursday a three-year-old girl and a 67-year-old woman from Kalkara were injured when a car that was being driven by the woman crashed into three parked vehicles in Bormla Road, Żabbar.

The accident happened at 11.15am. The girl was seriously injured, the police said. 

 In yet another accident an hour later at the Għaxaq Bypass,  a Transport Malta motorcyclist aged 31 was seriously injured in a crash involving a Toyota Funcargo and a Toyota Aygo. The other two motorists were not injured, the police said.
