The first ever national seminar in Malta dealing with women and sport, organised by the Malta Olympic Committee and the Malta Sports Council, got underway yesterday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Sliema.
Around 100 delegates from various local sporting organisations are attending the seminar which started with the opening speeches and lectures.
Dr Jan Graydon delivered a lecture on self-confidence in sports and exercise and Dr Olga Rutherford's presentation focused on the effects of hormone levels on muscles and ligaments.
The seminar continues today with a number of presentations including that of Emanuela Pierantozzi who won a judo bronze medal for Italy in the Sydney Olympics.
The seminar culminates in the signing of the Brighton Declaration, which reinforces women's rights in sport, tomorrow afternoon.
