Women in the police corps represent only 14.5 per cent of the force, Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg told Parliament yesterday.

Dr Borg was answering a question by Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi. In reply to a separate question, Dr Borg said that the force now totalled 1,713 officers, of whom 340 were honoured with the Long and Efficient Service medals at this year's Police Day.

In a separate question made by MLP MP Justyne Caruana, Dr Borg said that 95 policemen were stationed in Gozo.
