The second in a series of four courses on "Working Safely" is underway at Malta International Airport. Employees of the Airfield Services Section of the airport are being lectured on how to be safe and at the same time not endanger fellow workers and other issues like health and safety awareness, culture and attitude.
On successful completion of the course, delegates are able to identify the hazards and evaluate the risks at their workplace. They learn how to take appropriate precautions for specific risks or seek advice on what precautions to take. Furthermore, they will be able to assist managers in preparing written risk assessments.
Most important of all, they can follow their organisation's health and safety policy and co-operate and communicate on safety matters. They are also being lectured on how to report relevant accidents and incidents and monitor their own activities and assist managers in active monitoring.
The courses are being run by instructors from the Occupational Health and Safety Centre of Gzira. A further two courses are planned for this month.
