The storm which battered Malta over the last few days has unearthed part of a World War Two torpedo.

The British torpedo was washed up along the Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq coastline on Saturday and was removed by the Armed Forces of Malta's Explosive Ordinance Disposal and Plant Troop.

Checks were carried out on location until it was deemed safe for the army to remove the war remnants from the site.

The AFM said the torpedo was without its warhead and it was only the propulsion part that was washed up, posing no danger.

This was part of British Navy 21 inch Mark 9.A torpedo .

It will be kept at an AFM base for teaching new Conventional Munition Disposal (CMD) soldiers on identifying torpedoes.
