The French sail training ship  Belem, a fully restored three-masted barque that is over 100 years old, sailed out of Grand Harbour under sail this morning, providing a rare sight that harked to bygone days.

The 58-metre vessel, built in 1896, was 'escorted' by a catamaran and a small, modern sailing yacht as it sailed out at about 10.30 a.m.
