After celebrating its 25th anniversary with a sell-out performance just last year, the Yada Dance Company is preparing to celebrate the life, the art and the musical passion of the King of Pop: Michael Jackson.

Michael Jackson Forever is Yada’s tribute which aims to take the audience on a four-decade musical expedition of his chart-busting hits.

Decked out in glitzy jackets, glittering gloves and ever so tight moves, Yada will be putting on an extravaganza of dance and multi-media effects. Bad, I Just Can’t Stop Loving You, The Way You Make Me Feel, Dirty Diana, Black Or White, Beat It,Thriller and so many more are the tunes that will power this Yada show.

Michael Jackson was the most successful entertainer of all time, with an estimated 750 million records sold worldwide, 13 No.1 singles and 13 Grammy Awards.

It comes as no surprise that the man has been named the artist of the century.

Jackson’s 6th Studio album Thriller is the best-selling album of all time, with estimated sales of between 65 million copies worldwide. He is one of the few artistes to have been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice. He was also inducted into the Dance Hall of Fame as the first, and currently only, dancer from the world of pop and rock ‘n’ roll.

Michael Jackson’s dominance as an icon of popular culture is greatly owed to his contribution to the world of dance through his unforgettable live performances, popularised dance techniques and music videos.

The “robot” and the “moonwalk” are two of Jackson’s signature dance techniques launched in videos like Beat It, Billie Jean and Thriller. It was on the back of these videos that the relatively-new television channel MTV was brought to fame.

It was in a Motown television special in May 1983 that Jackson debuted the moonwalk wearing a distinctive black sequin jacket and golf glove. That performance is still considered to be his best solo performance of Billie Jean.

The physically-complicated robot dance technique was debuted just 10 years earlier while he sang the Dance Machine with the Jackson 5 on an episode of Soul Train. The show, being held at MFCC, Ta’ Qali between March 25 and 27, will feature 350 dancers, gymnasts and guest artistes all giving passionate life to Yada’s brand.
