Young Stars 1
Poiatti Qormi 1

This much-anticipated game served up some good hockey from both sides and the final 1-1 draw was a fair outcome.

The first attempt on goal came from Young Stars, Ramon Chircop saving well from David Evans. On 11 minutes Evans received from Mark Camilleri but hit wide.

Young Stars won their first short corner from which Ivan Magro could have given his side the lead had he not squandered a perfect pass from Edward Hughes.

Chircop then effected another save from an effort by Camilleri, and, at the other end, a typical run on the flank by Stephen Tanti ended with his final pass being missed by his team-mates with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Hughes then saw his push-shot sail over the bar and on the 48th, a good move between Hughes and Cristian Bonello ended with Marvin Vella tapping in from close range.

Qormi kept their cool despite this setback and by the 54th, they had managed to equalise through Jonathan Aquilina whose tame hit was deflected into goal by Clifford Defratelli.

Then, it had to be a point-blank save by Chircop to deny Ivan Magro.
