A group of 16 children went out of their way to do a good deed during the Christmas period and collected a total of €1,355 for two separate but worthy causes.

The children, who form part of the television programme ProjectNews team, which is aired on PBS, collected €555 for the Puttinu Cares Children Cancer Support Group and €800 for L-Istrina.

ProjectNews delivers local and international news and current affairs issues from a different perspective... that of a child.

During this festive season, Andrè, Christina, Francesco, Glenn, Jake John, Juan, Jurgen, Kain, Katia, Luana, Luke B, Luke V, Lydia, Martina, Matthew and Rebecca held a book sale at the Mater Dei Hospital and sold dozens of books, raising €555.

Apart from the book sale, they collected €800 in the piggy banks during their filming sessions in the streets of Valletta throughout December.

On Saturday, the ProjectNews team presented €555 to Puttinu Cares vice president Angele Cuschieri at the Rainbow Ward in Mater Dei Hospital. In the evening, the eight children went live on L-Istrina and presented the second cheque of €800 to Peppi Azzopardi and Valerie Vella.
