Nadur obtained their third successive league victory in a well-contested match which saw two players dismissed by referee Reno Refalo.

Nadur opened the scoring after 16 minutes when Maczerob Okoro took advantage from a defensive error inside the Hotspurs' box to put his team ahead.

There were no further goals in the first half but after the restart, the game became more aggressive. Victoria went close through Osy Nkwocha and Nadur had an attempt by Chris Camilleri that was stopped by the woodwork.

In the 74th minute, substitute Charles Hili surprised Victoria goalkeeper Portelli with a low shot from the edge of the area to double Nadur's lead.

Two minutes later, Victoria reduced the arrears from a penalty, awarded for a foul by Mark Buttigieg on Mercieca. Nkwocha scored from the spot.

Victoria's chances of snatching an equaliser were soon dealt a blow, however, when Noel Borg was sent off following an off-the-ball incident. Nadur were also reduced to ten players soon after, Buttigieg incurring a red card for two bookable offences.

Victoria went flat-out in attack but three minutes from time, Nadur made sure of the victory courtesy of a Camilleri goal after he was put through by Hili.

Referee: Reno Refalo.

Qala SJ 2
Xewkija Tigers 2

Qala and Xewkija gathered their first championship point with the former scoring a dramatic equaliser in stoppage time. It was the fourth consecutive match in which Xewkija conceded a late goal which cost them useful points.

Xewkija surged ahead in the 13th minute from a penalty, awarded for a foul by Cefai on Rais and converted by Jason Portelli. Qala produced a remarkable reaction and levelled the scores with a firm drive from Joseph Grech. However, a couple of minutes later Xewkija regained the lead with another Portelli goal.

Goalmouth action was scarce in the second half as play was restricted to midfield. Xewkija were more dangerous especially through substitute Jeffrey Farrugia. However, late in the game, Qala doubled their efforts and were rewarded in added time when a Mario Mifsud corner to the first post was deflected home by Jason Mizzi.

Referee: Anton Zammit.
