The National Youth Council has objected to the promise to reform the council made by the Labour Party in its leaders' "pact".
"The NYC is autonomous of the government and other institutions, whether political, religious, commercial or of another nature," it wrote in a letter to the opposition leader yesterday.
"It is therefore not within the competence of the government to reform the structures of the NYC as the result of its electoral manifesto. This kind of statement is a serious threat to Maltese civil society."
