Zebbug local council said today that it was in contact with European urban security specialists who could help it beef up security in the locality following an upsurge of crime.

The council expressed its concern over the situation - the latest case being a grocery shop hold-up yesterday.

It appealed to the police to take additional measures to improve security for the residents and businesses.
