Labour leader Joseph Muscat was this morning given a rousing welcome at the weekly flea market in Labour stronghold Zejtun.

Here he found a large crowd of supporters chanting Labour songs and the slogan Taghna Lkoll. He was accompanied by his wife Michelle.

Addressing the crowd the urged them to continue spreading the party's positive message of a better future for the country in the last two weeks of the campaign.

"While others resort to personal attacks and negative campaigning, we will continue to speak of our proposals," he said, mentioning as an example the promise to reduce power tariffs.

Earlier he toured the stalls, shaking innumerable hands and signing several copies of his biography.

After his short speech, Dr Muscat was whisked away without fielding any questions.
