The next race on the calendar of the Malta Cycling Federation will be held on Sunday on the Zurrieq circuit. It will cover 100kms over ten laps. The race, starting at 7.30 a.m., is expected to be over in three hours.

The circuit leads from Zurrieq to Maqluba, limits of Qrendi, and returns towards Zurrieq via the panoramic road. Most of the terrain is practically level.

This will be the first local race after two overseas engagements.

There was the men's team in the Andorra GSSE. Roderick Muscat won a bronze medal and Roy Chamberlain received special mention from the Malta Olympic Committee for his effective coaching.

There was also the women's team who for the second year running took part in the Bedford races, organised by Jon Miles, in the UK.

Last year, the winners in Zurrieq were Christian Formosa (U-15), Michelle Wood (women), Charlie Sammut (Masters) and Roderick Muscat (juniors).

The 2004 Elite class winner was Patrick Scicluna in 2:58.59.
