The seventh Zurrieq (Malta) International Half Marathon will be held on November 7. This should be a significant edition in the history of the race with the involvement of Caritas on World Run Day.

Caritas are the local representatives of World Run Day, an annual event in which runners are asked to collect funds for charity. This originated in the US in 1999, but since then it has grown and is now being organised in over 600 cities worldwide.

Funds collected during the half marathon and the fun runs, organised by Zurrieq Wolves AC, will go to Caritas. The five fun runs are 3km (14 years and older), 600m (11-13 years), 300m (7-10) and two 100-metre dashes for the elderly and U-7s.

Participation fee for the half marathon this year is Lm7, Lm2 of which will go directly to Caritas who in the coming days will start a collection of funds from schools.

Detailed information on the Zurrieq Half Marathon and the World Run Day, together with application forms, may be found on www.halfmarathon.org.
