In a statement this afternoon, the government said it was fully committed to solving the murder and bringing those responsible to justice.

Whoever came forward with information would be given full protection when testifying under oath in front of an Inquiring magistrate, and in all subsequent stages of the criminal procedures.

Information could also be passed to the police confidentially, and still be eligible for the reward, as long as it was corraborated with other independent evidence which would lead to the identification of those who committed this act.

It would not be the government who decides on whether the information or testimony is sufficient, credibile or complete. The point of reference would be the Magisterial Inquiry Report, which is an act of the independent judicial authority.

People with information can phone 2294 2008 or email crimeinfo.police@gov.mt.

Anyone who, despite his or her involvement, intended to collaborate with the police to identify the culprit could also make use of the Whistleblower’s Act and other ancillary amendments which were passed during the previous legislature, the government said.
