Sliema Wanderers are poised to contest Birkirkara's decision to call on the services of Luke Dimech and Rufin Oba in last Tuesday's top-of-the-table clash which they won 3-1 to end their Premier League first phase commitments on top.

Robert Arrigo, the Blues' president, had made it clear in the days before Tuesday's much-awaited clash, that his club would launch a protest against Birkirkara over the eligibility of Dimech and Oba.

Contacted yesterday, Arrigo told The Times that his club have resolved to go ahead with their plans, irrespective of the result of Tuesday's encounter.

Last week, Sliema challenged the validity of Dimech's move on the grounds that the former Shamrock midfielder had failed to abide by the 'first option' clause in his previous contract with the Wanderers.

Sliema are also claiming that Oba's transfer to Birkirkara breaches regulations. Floriana, Oba's former club, have also written to the Malta FA, requesting compensation from Birkirkara.

Birkirkara have argued all along that the transfers of Dimech and Oba were in line with the MFA statute.
