In its efforts to comply with the recently enacted laws concerning money laundering and data processing, all Dhalia staff were required to attend a training seminar at the Corinthia Palace. The training, organised by the Dhalia Group, was scheduled in five sessions, thus ensuring that all staff members are fully aware of the requirements and necessary implications.
Frank Caruana, director of the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit, led the sessions on anti-money laundering procedures and regulations. Dr Tonio Ellul of DataTech Consulting Ltd, assisted by his colleague Dr Alison Mifsud, led an informative session explaining the implications of the Data Protection Act 2001.
This is the second company-wide training session held this year and follows the training seminar held last January by Dr Simon Busuttil, which had assessed the property market and how it would be affected with Malta's accession to the European Union.
Speaking at the seminars, Dhalia's chairman and CEO, Franco Valletta, stated: "Dhalia staff must possess the repertoire of skills necessary to deliver the Dhalia service promise. In the real estate environment, the knowledge about legal changes and requirements such as EU, anti-money laundering or the Data Protection Act is a basic necessity. Dhalia has been in the forefront in these matters, and the first to instigate the need to train property consultants about these key issues thus creating awareness so that other organisations may follow."
