After a plentiful prickly pear vendemmia last August, production of the traditional Zeppi's Bajtra liquer was in full swing at Madalien Ltd.
"The Bajtra liqueur is the only genuine Maltese drink made from extracts of the local prickly pear. The crop gathered this year is of very good quality, although the hot summer did not last very long," Madalien Ltd managing director Silvio Camilleri said.
The Zeppi's range of liqueurs, marketed and distributed by Master Distributors, also includes a honey liqueur made from pure Maltese honey and an anisette liqueur blended with local aromatic herbs. Now, the company has embarked on a new campaign to promote these traditional products and their place in Malta's cultural heritage.
"Malta's climate, the taste of the fruits and the meticulous process with which we produce these liqueurs make our products distinctive," Mr Camilleri added.
Madalien Ltd have teamed up with artist James Vella Clark to sustain the traditional image of these unique products throughout the campaign, which features the liqueurs juxtaposed on paintings depicting Malta's characteristic scenery.
Over the years, Zeppi's Liqueurs have also proved to be popular among tourists. The Zeppi's range has also been approved by the Malta Crafts Council as genuinely made in Malta.
