Judge Victor Borg Costanzi, who had an illustrious career in the legal profession, passed away on Saturday night, aged 83.

Born in Senglea on December 1, 1923, Judge Borg Costanzi was educated at the Lyceum and at the University of Malta where he graduated as a lawyer in 1946.

He was appointed Deputy Attorney General in 1977 and Attorney General in 1981. In 1983, he was sworn in as judge of the superior courts, a post he retired from in 1988. That same year, he was nominated chairman of the Permanent Commission Against Corruption.

Judge Borg Costanzi married the late Lina Dingli in 1950. They had five children: Simone, Peter, Stephanie, Anne Marie and Veronique.

The funeral will be held today at 9 a.m. at St Julians parish church.
