CLMS co-hosted the presentation ceremony and Dr Johnny Sung, CLMS senior research fellow, gave his address on behalf of the University of Leicester and also launched the Louis Naudi Award.

The award is an initiative to commemorate Louis Naudi, a unique friend and colleague, a director of the FHRD Board, an M.Sc. graduate in Training and HRM from CLMS, and an external marker with the same centre, who had 'people' so close to his heart.

He was unique in his relationships with people, making himself always available, to mention a few of his virtues.

To honour him, CLMS and FHRD designed this award, which every year will go to the M.Sc. graduate invited to the annual FHRD presentation ceremony who would have attained a distinction in the dissertation and the highest overall average in the assignments. The awarded graduate, therefore, could be one of several intakes.

The FHRD is pleased to announce that the Louis Naudi Award 2007 went to Mariella Borg Costanzi, M.Sc. Training and HRM, April 2004 intake, who was sponsored by Simonds Farsons Cisk plc. Louis Naudi's widow, Anne Naudi, presented a certificate and a book by Dr Sung to Ms Borg Costanzi. The foundation also thanks Mrs Naudi for honouring it with her presence.

Among the other distinguished guests from CLMS present for the ceremony were Dr Dan Bishop, Dr Glynne Williams and Rita Denton. Also present were representatives from the sponsoring organisations, whom the FHRD thanked for their support and commitment to the advancement of the HR profession. These were: AirMalta Co. Ltd, Baxter Ltd, Cardinal Health Malta Ltd, the Central Bank of Malta, the Employment and Training Corporation, Heritage Malta, HSBC Bank Malta plc, the Malta College for Arts, Science and Technology, Malta Enterprise, Malta Maritime Authority, MITTS Ltd, Simonds Farsons Cisk plc and the Staff Development Organisation in the Office of the Prime Minister.

The ETC and SDO sponsor a considerable number of students, year after year, for the CLMS programmes of studies. So while the foundation thanked the government for this commitment, it expressed satisfaction that every effort is being done on a national level to give greater recognition to the HR profession.

As part of the ceremony proceedings, an M.Sc. graduate, Roberta Agius, was selected to recount her experience of reading for her degree. This inspiring speech can be accessed on the FHRD Website www.fhrd.org/mscspeech.asp.

The foundation congratulates all the graduates and wishes them every success in their lives.

The next intake of CLMS programmes is due in July. For information kindly contact Daniela Gouder on dgouder@fhrd.org or 2138-1786.
