Bank of Valletta has announced the launch of a new, international debit card for students - the BoV Club Cashlink Visa.

"The new card will form part of the new BoV Club package which will be launched over the coming weeks," Alan Cassar, BoV executive head of sales and product development said. The new BoV Club package will not only be promoted using a fresh, young and colourful design, but will also include added-value, making it the best package BoV has ever offered to students, he added.

The new BoV Club Cashlink Visa offers students a number of benefits including 24-hour access to the funds held in their account. Since the BoV Club Cashlink Visa is a local debit card which can be used world-wide, it is ideal for use when travelling abroad - it can be used to effect cash withdrawals at ATMs, and for making purchases at any point-of-sale terminal locally and abroad. Furthermore, students can also use their card while shopping over the Internet.

Speaking about the design of the card, Mr Cassar said: "The new, attractive, colourful design reflects the effervescent nature that characterises the student market. We are confident that this card will appeal to students of all ages who will also recognise the added payment-related benefits of convenience and flexibility that are incorporated in this increasingly popular method of payment."

Mr Cassar also explained that apart from putting a great package of financial services together for students, BoV Club will also offer a number of attractive gifts to fit in with students' lifestyle.

The BoV Club Cashlink Visa and Credit Cards are available to students who are aged 18 years and over. The approval of credit cards is subject to normal bank lending criteria and final approval from a BoV branch. Gift offers are available to new BoV Club members attending post-secondary institutions or the University of Malta on a full-time basis, in receipt of a stipend by direct credit and whose application form is received by the bank until October 31. ATM withdrawals and purchases may be effected world-wide at any ATM and point-of-sale terminal displaying the Visa sign.
