Luis Aragones was presented as the new Fenerbahce coach yesterday, less than a week after leading Spain to victory at Euro 2008.
The Istanbul club had signed a preliminary two-year deal with the 69-year-old during the European Championship and Aragones arrived in the city on Thursday.
"I am very happy to be part of Fenerbahce," Aragones told a televised news conference.
"I am here both with my brain and heart to work for Fenerbahce. I know I have come to a good and strong team. The stadium is absolutely great and I'm sure that the atmosphere will be even more fantastic when the fans come.
"However, I like to keep things calm. This season we want to win every possible title."
Aragones said he left his post as Spain coach because the Spanish Football Federation did not want him to continue.
Their Euro 2008 triumph was the country's first major title in 44 years.
The former Atletico Madrid and Barcelona coach replaces Brazilian Zico, who led Fenerbahce to the Champions League quarter-finals but failed to reach a new deal after losing out to city rivals Galatasaray in the domestic title race.
Aragones, who has been coaching since 1974, was in charge of the Spanish national side for four years.
He courted controversy on numerous occasions, not least for making offensive remarks directed at then Arsenal striker Thierry Henry in 2004 and for leaving Real Madrid legend Raul out of the Spain squad for Euro 2008.
