I left Malta in 1951. I am hoping that someone in Malta can help me with information about the Kalfrana RAF-RN base.

I would like to know the date when the base was finally closed down. When was the project of demolishing the buildings started? Who carried out the task and what became of the large diesel engines that were at the power station? These engines coupled with electricity generators used to supply power for the base.

My father, William N. Coxhead (of Birżebbuġa) was the foreman in charge of the power station for many years, from 1933 to 1953. Above is a photo taken c.1950. My father is standing at front with six of his workers. All lived at Birżebbuġa.

I am writing a short story about Kalafrana so the information from readers would be greatly appreciated. I do have a few other photos of Kalafrana. My phone number is 03 9382 0324. My full address is: 44 Grandview Road, Niddrie, Victoria, Australia 3042.
