Vodafone Malta and Research In Motion have introduced the Blackberry Storm smartphone to Malta.
Purposely built for Vodafone and its partners, the Blackberry Storm brings entertainment, information and the functionality of Blackberry to fingertips through the world's first 'clickable' touch-screen.
The display depresses slightly when the screen is pressed, enhancing the touch interface for both typing and navigation. The smartphone also boasts 3G support, built-in GPS, desktop-style web pages, advanced media player, 3.2 megapixel camera, premium phone features and the industry's leading e-mail and messaging capabilities.
Through its revolutionary touch-screen, virtual keyboards on the Blackberry Storm smartphone respond much like a physical keyboard for easy and precise typing; and the touch screen interface supports single-touch, multi-touch and gestures for intuitive and efficient navigation.
The Blackberry Storm can also be used in a portrait or landscape orientation to suit the task at hand.
The smartphone supports video streaming from mobile sites like Youtube and has a built-in media player that handles a number of music and video formats. It can even be synchronised with iTunes and Windows Media Player or use with the Blackberry Music Gateway to enjoy songs through home stereo. There is 1 GB of onboard memory storage and a microSD/SDHD memory card slot that supports up to 16 GB of additional storage per card.
The Media player can play movies smoothly in full screen mode, display pictures and slideshows quickly and manage an entire music collection; playlists can be created directly on the handset. There is an equaliser with 11 preset filters - including 'Lounge', 'Jazz' and 'Hip Hop' - for customised audio ranges when using wired headphones or external speakers.
Vodafone Malta is offering the Blackberry Storm smartphone at €565 without contract. Various discounts are offered to customers based on the tariff plan selected. The Blackberry Storm is also being offered free on two of Vodafone's pay monthly plans.
