The acting CEO of SmartCity Malta said today that he was very comfortable and confident that SmartCity Malta would be a success story in the Mediterranean.
Fareed Abdulrahman made his comment after SmartCity Malta today held its third quarter Board of Directors' meeting. The board met to discuss the progress on SmartCity Malta and upcoming developments.
The board noted the construction developments of Phase One. The ground floor slab of SCM01, the 12,000 sqm office space, has been cast and work has commenced on the remainder of the superstructure. The board also acknowledged that works are continuing to progress as scheduled and are expected to accelerate in the coming months.
While welcoming Mr Abdulrahman as the acting SmartCity Malta CEO, the board also announced its upcoming human resources strategy for the remainder of 2009 and the first quarter of 2010, which will include recruitment of various senior and middle management positions. This will be completed by the first quarter of the coming year.
Attending the meeting were the board members of SmartCity Malta, Deepak Padmanabhan, Emanuel Delia, Fareed Abdulrahman and Todd Betts.
Referring to the outcome of the Board of Directors' meeting, Mr Abdulrahman commented, "We are very comfortable and confident that SmartCity Malta will be a success story in the Mediterranean. We need to stress that we are prepared to face all the hurdles that accompany the development of a project of this magnitude. We fully respect Maltese people, their culture and values and are proud of being a part of Malta's Smart Island vision."
The board also set a date in December to meet in order to discuss SmartCity Malta's progress and to review the budget for 2010.
