The Malta Tourism Authority has opened a tourist information office at the Valletta Waterfront in collaboration with Viset.
The office was inaugurated by Mario de Marco, parliamentary Secretary for Tourism.
The Authority said that some 900 tourists a day sought information from its offices every day. The Authority has offices in Valletta, the airport, Victoria, Mdina and Mellieha.
It also intends opening new ones in Vittoriosa, St Julians and St Paul’s Bay.
Some 500,000 cruise passengers visit the Valletta Waterfront every year. Just over 154,500 cruise passengers came to Malta in the first five months of this year, up by 53 per cent over the same period last year.
The MTA said it had upgraded the literature distributed from its information offices, including maps and visitors’ guide brochures in 12 languages. It is also publishing guides for walking tours in various localities, starting from Valletta, followed by Gozo.
