Year 3 pupils at St Thomas More College's Fgura Primary A, were recently awarded the 'Turu School Award' organised by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority.
Seventeen schools competed for the award in which the students had to submit creative material explaining what they had learnt during school activities held between March and mid-June as part of the Apprezza tourism awareness campaign. These fun activities, which included a visit by campaign mascot Turu, focused on the importance of hospitality, maintaining a clean environment and understanding tourists' needs.
The Fgura pupils, with the help of their teachers, submitted a 'South Tour of Malta' project to promote historical places in the southern part of Malta.
They provided a voice recording about the tour, a slideshow and a model made from reusable material, as well as pictures and charts to complete the project.
The project was awarded maximum points.
