Prince Harry has hinted he would like to be involved in an expedition to Mount Everest.

The 26-year-old royal, who joined a group of wounded servicemen for four days of a successful trip to the North Pole, said to a charity founder: “See you on the next one.”

Prince Harry was reunited with his teammates in London for the first time since he left them in the Arctic wilderness a little under three weeks ago. The third in line to the throne joked with the soldiers about how they had shaved off the beards they grew on the 170-mile expedition and described his tent as a “pleasure dome”.

Speaking about his time on the frozen ocean, Prince Harry said: “It is the last true wilderness on earth, the North Pole.”

Prince Harry is patron of the Walking With The Wounded charity. He said: “To spend four days with these guys out there, I will never forget it for the rest of my life.”

The expedition to Mount Everest next year will be led by Captain Hewitt. Asked what it was like to be reunited with Prince Harry, he said: “It was fantastic. Speaking of Prince Harry’s possible involvement in the challenge to Mount Everest, he said: “Something tells me he’ll be a little too busy with his royal and military commitments to do the entire trip. But we’ll see what he’s willing to be involved with.”
