The first two next-generation cash machines were installed at the newly-refurbished HSBC branch in Mosta last week.
The ATM machines accept loose cash deposits without the need for a deposit envelope. Customers retrieve a receipt indicating the number and value of the notes deposited. The cash is then credited into the account.
Cash machines with the same functions will be phased in other branches around Malta and Gozo throughout the year.
“There is an increased demand for automated services among our customers. Our customers are telling us they need better machines and that is why we are giving them new ATMs throughout the network,” Philip Farrugia, HSBC’s Chief Technology and Services Officer said.
The Mosta branch refurbishment is part of an €8 million upgrade programme for HSBC’s branch network that aims to deliver the same brand experience as any HSBC branch in the world.
