Banif Bank (Malta) plc has named Adrian Coppini and Paulo Machado Fernandes as new members of its executive committee.
Mr Coppini and Mr Machado Fernandes will occupy the posts of chief officer corporate services and chief financial markets and investments officer respectively.
Joining the bank at its inception, Mr Coppini was instrumental in the setting up of the bank’s operations in Malta where he led the HR and corporate services departments with overall responsibility for human resources, purchasing, properties and maintenance, health and safety, security and administration services.
He held senior management positions in the airline, electronics and investment promotion sectors as chief officer, HR and corporate services at Air Malta plc, executive company secretary at Malta Enterprise Limited, and managing director at Ero Electronic (Malta) Limited, among others.
He is currently a director on the board of Air Malta plc and the council deputy president of the Brussels-based Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques. Married with three children, he holds a degree in business management from the University of Malta.
Mr Machado Fernandes began his professional activity in the banking sector in 1985, working in finance and international financial markets at Bank of Lisbon and South Africa, in Johannesburg.
He moved to Banif – Banco Internacional do Funchal in Portugal, and was instrumental in the integration of the Treasury and Financial Markets Departments.
In 1997, he joined the Santander Group to perform similar functions in financial markets and asset management, within the retail banking and investment banking fields.
After 10 years, he was invited by Banif Financial Group, to be part of the team responsible in setting up the Banif Bank project in Malta. He was appointed head of treasury.
