Premier League club Valletta have extended their association with leading sportswear Nike for another three years, the Malta champions announced during a news conference yesterday.

Club senior vice-president Paul Spiteri told the media that the Citizens have penned a third successive agreement with the renowned company and was hopeful that the partnership will continue to flourish for more years to come.

“We are satisfied that we have successfully extended our association with Urban Jungle and Nike for three more years,” Spiteri said.

“Valletta FC were the first Premier League club in Malta to don Nike shirts for more than a decade now. During this time we had success all round and the team won several major domestic honours.

“Now, we want this relationship to continue for many years to come.”

Alex Busuttil, Valletta FC vice-president, said that the agreement formed part of their strategy to bolster the club’s commercial value.

“Since the start of the season we have succeeded in embarking on a number of initiatives that are aimed towards reaching our goal of making this club self-sufficient,” he said.

“This agreement involves a big financial commitment from Urban Jungle who have agreed to provide sports apparel to all teams within our fold.”

Also present for yesterday’s news conference was Davide Faloppa, Team Sport manager at Nike Italia.

He said: “In the past few years we have worked hard to ensure that we are involved with leading teams in each country that we are based and Valletta certainly fit that bill perfectly.

“Their success on the field of play has been outstanding lately and we are hopeful that they will continue to excel with our Nike products.”
