Carmine Lauri, internationally acclaimed Maltese violin virtuoso and co-leader of the London Symphony Orchestra, will be performing at the Manoel Theatre together with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra tonight at 7.30 p.m., under the baton of British conductor Peter Stark.
Mr Lauri has led various orchestras including the Academy of St Martin in the fields, the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the LPO, the LSO, the Orquesta municipal of Venezuela and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra under Lorin Maazel, Bernard Haitink, Sir Colin Davis, Antonio Pappano, Yan Pascal Tortellier, Riccardo Chailly, Pierre Boulez & Valery Gergiev.
Mr Lauri has also recorded with the LSO music scores of several movies, including Star Wars and Harry Potter and is often the featured violin soloist in many films such as As You Like It and Joyeux Noel.
Mro Stark returns to play with the MPO. He is professor of conducting at London’s Royal College of Music and has taught over 400 private students.
His acclaimed courses in conducting have taken him across the world and his reputation as a teacher is renowned.
The public is being given the chance to meet conductor Mro Stark in a pre-concert talk being hosted by Joseph Camilleri.
Mro Stark will discuss what conducting, or performing, is like for him.
